Camping is a time honored tradition that a lot of people still enjoy even to this day. If you are an avid camper, then you know all about what things to bring and how to choose the best camping essentials for every trip. If you are in the market for a new hammock, there are a number of factors to consider before deciding which one to purchase. Listed below are 3 of the most important things to look for when shopping for camping hammocks.

Weight Capacity

Camping is usually a communal activity so you have to account for other people who would want to share the hammock with someone else. These days, there are different types of camping hammocks, some of which can accommodate 2-3 people at a time, so you have to know exactly what you would possibly need.

The weight capacity of portable camping hammocks depends largely on the material used to manufacture them. Some of the most reliable materials include cotton, polyester, and canvas. In addition, the support ropes which are to be tied to trees or posts should also be able to hold the indicated weight to provide an adequate and safe sleeping facility.

Comfort Level

Just as you want your bed to be comfortable, a hammock should also provide at least a semblance of such comfort. If you are shopping for camping gear online, make sure that you check out consumer testimonials or reliable reviews to check whether it is something your body would be comfortable with, especially if the trip lasts for more than a weekend.

Certain types of hammocks are designed for people with back problems such as chronic pain or scoliosis. It is important that you know all the options should you or your camping buddies have certain special needs that have to be met.

Cost

Whether you are on a budget or willing to spend as much money as possible, it is imperative that you conduct cost comparisons before buying any merchandise. Camping supplies vary in price depending on their quality and where they are sold. If you are looking to save some cash, it is best to consider buying supplies online since there are several websites that offer affordable and good quality gear.

Price comparison is very easy when shopping online as all there is to do is browse the available products and look up their corresponding prices. In the end, it’s all about what you need and what you can afford so perusing different products is definitely worth the time, especially if you want only the best.

The Yoga Of Strength Training And Body Building

I was the stiffest person in every yoga class I took for two years. When Yoga practice took hold inside me, and the desire to progress in the poses, to open my body, grew strong, I was convinced that – since many people had told me this – in order for me to become flexible, I would have to lose muscle mass.

Jump ahead many years. While I’ve not turned into a bendy yogi –like those uber flexi girls that look like they were born into a circus family – my body is much more open, and postures I’d assumed I would never be able to do are regular parts of my daily yoga.

Much has been written about the benefits of resistance (strength) training. It’s beneficial for general health, metabolism and youthening. You can call resistance training anti-aging or even better, physical immortality training, and you can see how well it’s documented scientifically.

A friend who’s a fitness buff, and who became dedicated to yoga a few years ago, struggles with oscillations between the gym and the shala (yoga school). Her big question is – how to get the benefits of both? Specifically, how to get the tremendous benefits of resistance training (weight training) while still progressively deepening her yoga practice. Being a scientist, she researched the literature and documented reports.

The results she found (until now) were adamantly conclusive. It can’t be done, these reports said – they are mutually exclusive endeavors. What you do in the gym will set back your yoga practice and what you do in the shala will undermine your strength training.

I can say it’s not true. While it may be true that the challenge of increasing flexibility for someone with large amounts of muscle mass may be tremendous, it can be done. And for someone with less muscle than they would like, they can build it without harm to their flexibility. In fact, the added strength is an asset to their flexibility.

Resistance training involves taking muscle fibers out of their comfort zone, taking them beyond what they think they can do to train them that they have a higher potential. Each time you do this – and then allow time for recovery and rebuilding – the muscle fiber becomes bigger and stronger. It’s the same process we undertake with yoga. And although there are manifold benefits from the physical part of us reaching a higher potential, the greater benefit comes from that process as metaphor. Just like there are benefits in standing on one’s head. Yet a far better benefit comes from learning we can do something we previously thought we couldn’t.

Now, each time I lift some weight – whether it’s my own body or a dumbbell – I do so with the express purpose of realizing more of my potential. The term bodybuilding fits better than lifting weights. Within each session, I somehow top whatever I did in the previous session, either with more sets, a slower movement, a heavier weight or more repetitions. My body has come to expect more from me. And so have I. When we expect more from someone or something, the usual result is that we get more. I have been amazed to see how quickly and efficiently my body has responded to the increased demands. Muscles have grown rapidly. My shape has changed noticeably in the last 6 months. More importantly I feel better than ever. That I look better is a welcome side benefit.

The body – like all systems – craves balance, and will always find it given the right conditions. Greater strength – which results in greater stability – allows the body more flexibility.

My experiment has clearly shown me that not only is muscle mass not a detriment to flexibility, it’s a boon to it. My own yoga practice has continued to develop with the addition of strength training. I practice asana in the mornings like usual, then 3-5 days a week I invest an hour or less on resistance training. Another 4 days a week I walk in the afternoons.

The question I frequently ask – ‘how good can it get?’ – keeps revealing more and more delightful answers. Greater joy in the body may contribute to greater joy in every aspect of our lives. And it’s ten times more likely when we approach all we do with the smiling potential of ‘may this create more love and joy in the world.’

The Museum Of History And Holocaust Education

The Museum of History and Holocaust Education (MHHE) in Kennesaw, Georgia presents a number of informative exhibits as well as a variety of public programming that focuses on World War II and the Holocaust. The museum is located on the extended campus of Kennesaw State University in the northwest suburbs of Atlanta. The facility is funded in part by grants from the Marcus Foundation and Bernie Marcus, Atlanta philanthropist, businessman, and co-founder of Home Depot.

Several major exhibits may currently be seen at the Museum of History and Holocaust Education. The exhibit Parallel Journeys: World War II and the Holocaust chronicles the inspiring stories of 40 brave teenagers and young adults. Anne Frank’s story of hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam is well known, but the stories of the lesser known young people featured in this exhibit are just as compelling. Many others hid from the Nazis, led resistance efforts, survived concentration camps, or escaped Nazi persecution. Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel is one of the young people featured in the exhibit. The museum’s Butterfly Project exhibit honors the 1.5 million Jewish children who died in the Holocaust. The exhibit V for Victory: Georgia Remembers World War II tells the story of what life was like on the home front during the war. Topics examined in the exhibit include rationing, reactions to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the role of American companies in supporting the war effort, and the new workforce opportunities for women and African Americans during the war. In the Power of Propaganda exhibit, visitors will be able to see how propaganda was used by both sides during WWII.

Local Heroes: Honoring the Greatest Generation is a changing exhibit that tells the stories of local veterans who served in WWII. Family and friends may suggest names of those they would like to see honored. The museum also has several traveling exhibits that can be scheduled for viewing in schools, libraries, and community centers. Special free programs offered throughout the year include lectures, workshops, films, and concerts. The museum sponsors a Summer Institute for World War II and Holocaust Studies for rising high school juniors and seniors.

Visitors will find the Museum of History and Holocaust Education to be educational and informative. The museum is located in Kennesaw State University’s KSU Center at 3333 Busbee Drive in Kennesaw, Georgia. Visitors should exit off I-75 at Chastain Road. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm. It is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the museum is free.

The MAC cosmetics company, also known as Makeup Art Cosmetics, is an internationally sold brand of cosmetics that originally became famous without any advertising. Instead, it cultivated its amazing popularity only through word of mouth endorsements by professionals in the field of makeup. From models and celebrities to professional makeup artists, they all had MAC on their lips (in both the literal and figurative senses). The company was created in 1985 in Toronto, Canada by Franks Toskan and Angelo. Frank Toscan was a photographer and makeup artist and Frank Angelo owned a chain of salons, making their partnership perfect for a cosmetic line.

Unlike other brands (both expensive and drug store), MAC cosmetic brands will hold up to the most makeup terrorizing conditions you can imagine. From really hot, bright lights to sweating while working out, MAC makeup won’t fade, discolor or smear. Also, a lot of times when you buy a color of lipstick or eyeshadow the color is different on you than it is in the container. In fact, it can be a real crap shoot when it comes to whether or not the stuff will look good on you. With MAC, however, what you see is what you get. That obnoxious shade of electric blue that the eyeshadow appears to be will actually look like that when you put it on.

For me, the best thing about the MAC cosmetic company is the fact that they are so socially conscious. They currently have four social initiative programs that are currently in place that raise money and awareness for cruel free beauty, recycling, kids helping kids and AIDS causes. Even though MAC was taken over by the Estee Lauder Companies, the MAC AIDS Fund continues to generate income through the sale of the Viva Glam MAC products.

MAC makeup brushes are, hands down, the best ones you can buy. But are the ones you have a fake? Unless you actually bought it at a MAC store or through the official website, you might have purchased a knock-off.

Go and grab your MAC makeup brushes and let’s see if yours are real.

How Dense are the Hairs?

One of the hallmarks of MAC is that the makeup brushes are dense bristles. The brushes are soft, but they are so densely packed that it’s not easy (and impossible for some) to bend the bristles to the side.

If you can pretty easily bend the bristles, or the brush head is thick but not dense, there is an excellent chance you have a fake.

How Much Did You Pay?

These wonderful makeup brushes are not cheap; even one of the least expensive brushes is more than $15, and most cost over $20 each. In fact, the 134 large powder brush is $52 all by itself!

So when you see a set of 12 “MAC” brushes being sold for $45, you know it has to be a fake!

Did You Buy it on eBay?

While there might be a few sellers on eBay of honest-to-goodness-real MAC brushes, the vast majority are knock offs. Do yourself a favor; don’t go to eBay and expect to see the real deal.

Is There Silver Metal?

One of the big purveyors of fake MAC brushes actually makes it very easy to tell it’s a fake. The reason? There isn’t any silver colored metal on the brush — they are all black.

Real MAC makeup brushes have an area of silver metal connecting the brush hairs to the handle.

Where is the Name?

The new MAC brushes have the MAC name towards the silver metal area. If you see a new brush with the MAC name centered on the handle, it’s a tip-off for being a fake.

One thing to note here, though — some of the older-style MAC brushes did have the name on the center of the handle. But since these brushes are so popular, the chances of you getting a genuine old brush that’s never been used is somewhere between minuscule and non-existent.

You Have a Fake — Now What?

Well, if it’s a brush that you use and like, then just keep on using it. Then one day when it falls apart (the fakes aren’t made nearly as well), you can go and get yourself a real MAC makeup brush.

Some of the fakes are really quite decent in their own right, and if you didn’t pay much money for them, why not go ahead and use them?

If, however, you paid a lot for a fake, and you bought it recently, try to return it.

An Easy Way To Overcome Fears

It may sound a little strange, but just learning to breathe properly will help you to overcome fears. One particular fear a few people have is when they are about to drive over a bridge. This condition is called gephyrophobia (an anxiety disorder caused by the fear of driving over bridges). However, no matter what one’s fear is, everyone experiences an inability to breathe in a normal way. They also feel unable to take deep breaths because they feel their throat and chest tightening up. Eventually, they try to gasp and gulp for air with the fear of suffocating. This can become so severe that they feel as if they are having a lung disorder or a heart attack.

Despite all of these uncomfortable manifestations, try your best to keep calm and trust in the fact that such feelings are not physically dangerous or lethal. Believe it or not, the body can be appropriately trained to utilize correct breathing techniques using methods that are simple and easy to follow.

Usually when one gets a panic attack, over-breathing occurs. This is also called hyperventilating. This is because the body is taking in more carbon dioxide than necessary. Whenever you sweat uncontrollably, have difficulty swallowing, experience heartburn, feel a tingling sensation and numbness in your extremities, feel your muscles shaking, have chest pains and vision disturbances and feel your heart racing, you are definitely hyperventilating.

Fortunately, you can easily do diaphragmatic breathing in order to overcome fears. Diaphragmatic or controlled breathing is one of the most effective methods that will help end anxiety attacks or panic attacks, especially when experiencing fear. Usually those who have feelings of general anxiety breathe from their thoracic, or chest, and not through the stomach.

Do you breathe from your stomach or chest? In order to know if you are breathing properly, place your hand on your stomach while your other hand should be on your chest (just over your breastbone). Then try to notice which hand is falling and rising. If the hand on your chest is mostly moving, you are definitely not breathing from the diaphragm and need to train your body to breathe this way. You also need to train your body to breathe from the lower lungs.

However, if it is only the hand on your stomach that is moving, you are most likely breathing properly. But always be sure to pay attention to the way you breathe, especially during times when you feel anxious. This is so you can maintain your normal breathing pattern. Do note that there are people who do not want to believe that they are breathing in an incorrect manner.

All you have to do is observe how a dog or a baby breathes. See how they breathe in a very relaxed manner as their bellies move up and down while their chest stays perfectly still. Remember that this is the way mother nature intends for us to breathe and doing so hopefully will help you overcome fears.

Certainly, there is no such thing as a perfect work. Even owners of multinational corporations in the country are facing problems in their respective businesses. What more if you are dealing with lives. For sure, though you are one of the most skilled employees in the hospital, you will still face adversities and difficulties in your job.

At present the function of medical assistants is becoming dynamic. Aside from their supervisory duties, they also work hand in hand with doctors, dietitians, nurses and patients as well. They see to it that everything is in order. Though, they try their best to carryout their duties, challenges are inevitably seen. Here are some of them:

Patients That Have Attitude Problems
Medical assistants are meeting different people each day. Patients and visitors may come from different walks of life. Not everyday is perfect and surely, the day will not end without one challenging patient who does not but criticize. The cases can differ greatly – from an old granny who keeps on coming back grouchy about how bad her day was to a young mother who can’t be still because she can’t pay her bills. Then again, even if that patient is the most challenging person there is in the clinic, the medical staff and that includes the medical assistant must maintain their professionalism and show patience and kindness to all.

Communication
Medical assistants must be good communicators. Since they commonly commune with doctors, they need to deliver the message flawlessly and accurately. Aside from vocal communication, medical assistants are mainly in charge of other administrative responsibilities and they need to ensure that all their writings and notes are readable.

Extended Working Hours Or Holiday Shifts
Like other medical professionals, medical assistants must be flexible and should be agreeable to work for extended hours, There may also be times in which they have to report even if it is a national or a regular holiday.

Patient Closeness
All medical staff must be professional always. Avoid personal and emotional attachment as not to cloud the decision making. Then again, if dealing with lives, it can be confounding not be affected when someone dies. Yes, people are emotional beings. Nevertheless, it is the responsibility of the health staff to stay professional and composed.

Nurse Or Medical Assistants
The roles of medical assistants are encompassing that there are times they are mistaken as nurses. They are faced with the trouble of explaining their roles to others. They have to flawlessly and good-naturedly stretch the fact that they are not nurses. This is sometimes a very discomfited condition to be into.

Under Pressure
Every day is a new experience when working in a hospital setting. There are instances in which the volume of patients are just average and there are times wherein it is so overpowering. When there are so many patients to cater to, medical assistants ought to stay in focus. They do not let the situation overcome them or else they will not be able to carryout their duty well.

The things mentioned above are some of the common challenges faced by medical assistants and surely by other health care providers as well. It is not an easy task to be a member of the hospital staff. People deem highly of doctors, nurses, medical assistants and other hospital employees. People trust that their health is in good hands. Since people are going to hospitals and clinics every day to seek medical assistance and to improve their lives, it is defining to avoid errors by staying organized especially in such a stressful environment.

Education is the best investment you can give to yourself. It cannot be robbed nor sold. No matter how much time and money you exhaust to earn a degree, it’s worth all the sacrifices because it can open many doors of opportunities.

These days, quality education is attainable with the use of the internet. You can study anyplace and anytime you want, even at the convenience of your own home. Many people are opting to study online because of the convenience and accessibility it gives. With that said, online schooling is one of the flourishing businesses at present.

True enough, online schools has open doors for many educators to practice their profession and share to students their craft. However, it also attracts fraudsters who victimize innocent indivuals who want nothing but quality education. Graduating from fake schools and programs is pointless because it will not be recognized by the Department of Education.

Here are practical ways on how to tell if a Medical Assistant Online School is genuine:

1. Check if the Medical Assistant Online School is included in the list of Accredited Post secondary Institutions and Programs of the Department of Education. For the list of accredited schools and programs, you can visit http://Ope.Ed.Gov/accreditation/search.Aspx.

2. Check the website of the American Association of Medical Assistants at http://Www.Aama-ntl.Org/medassisting/caahep_prgs.Aspx and find out if your chosen school is recognized. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) are accountable for the accreditation of the medical assisting programs that are qualified to proctor the CMA Certification Exam by the AAMA.

3. Some obvious signs in spotting a counterfeit Medical Assistant Online School are:

A. Their only requirement for entry is a valid credit card and they do not consider your G.P.A. And other school records. It only shows that they are only interested in your money!
B. They do give out entrance exams or applicant interviews as part of their admittance procedure.
C. They do not have offices or schools sited in the same country or locality where they offer the degrees.
D. The list and/or credentials of their faculty members are not shown.
E. Their quality of curriculum is not up to date.
F. You will get the degree at a flat fee, unlike normal schools that has varying expenses depending on the educational course and charge per credit for tuition fees.
G. Promises that are too good to be true, like you will be able to get a certificate within 1 to 3 monthes of program enrollment. Sometimes, you only have to pay, without the need to have a sufficient number of hours for studying.
H. They offer limited or no contact details such as mailing address or telephone numbers. They might even give a false or non-existent contact details.

Certainly, it is easy to graduate in a fake school but it is pointless! Follow these procedures and you will certainly find a genuine medical assistant online schooling curriculum. Always bear in mind that there are no short cuts on quality learning. Having a good education is very crucial, notably those who are practicing in the medical field because the lives of their patients are in their hands. The Federal Reserve Bank in midtown Atlanta welcomes visitors who would like to tour its Monetary Museum and Visitor Center exhibits. Anyone who has ever wondered just what goes on in a Federal Reserve Bank will find the museum interesting and informative. The self guided tour chronicles the story of money from various forms of barter to modern day e-commerce. The museum also relates the history of banking in the U.S.

The Monetary Museum has interesting examples of what people through the centuries have used as barter, from wampum to Chinese shoe money to gold nuggets. There is an outstanding collection of historical monetary artifacts, including rare coins and currency from around the world as well as some Confederate money. Displays also include an actual gold bar worth $500,000 and a real $100,000 bill.

The Visitor Center has interactive touch screen exhibits which show the role of the Federal Reserve Bank in America. Multimedia exhibits and films explain how the Federal Reserve maintains the stability of the country’s financial system and the economy, and how the Federal Reserve regulates banks. The interactive Banker’s Challenge game demonstrates how banks earn profits and manage risk. Through windows in the Federal Reserve’s cash processing center, visitors will be able to watch the process as robots and Federal Reserve personnel handle large amounts of cash. Millions of dollars are counted and sorted every day. Visitors will see how worn out currency is shredded, and watch as the cash bus goes back and forth all day. Even children will enjoy some of the interactive exhibits and the cash bus. Upon leaving the Visitor Center, guests are invited to take home an unusual free souvenir, a bag of shredded money.

The Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank is located at 1000 Peachtree Street NE. It is a hidden gem in midtown, just a five minute walk from the Midtown MARTA Station and across the street from the Margaret Mitchell House.
